Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I love to look at photographs and video clips with my customers. I have a large portfolio of award winning photos and visuals that I can share and also enjoy looking at inspiration boards that I or the customer has put together. Usually we will talk on a phone or video call, meet up or exchange ideas in email. Being very experienced and having a proven track record I have a lot of ideas, tips and guidance I can offer to potential customers to help them accomplish what they are after. Each client has unique needs so I love to listen and learn what they are and adjust my process to help ensure success for each project.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated with Honors and Distinction in the visual arts department from University of California San Diego. I've studied under and worked with award winning photographers and cinematographers in Los Angeles for many years. Being interested in cameras at a young age, I've logged a lifetime of hours working with cameras, lenses, lighting, editing and retouching, still at the young age of 42.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Yes, I have standard pricing available for many types of shoots. For shoots which do not fall in these general categories or if you want something modified I'm happy to provide a custom quote for you and your project. In general I do not charge hourly for photography sessions, its a session and project fee as prep, equipment and my professional expertise is more accurately compensated by project.
How did you get started in this business?
I began working with cameras at a young age by borrowing video cameras from my parents friends. I would make small movies and animations. Eventually this led me to taking courses in filmmaking and photography, I fell in love with it and decided to focus my higher education and professional career in the field. I started working in Los Angeles shooting commercial, music video and mostly short form content for television broadcast, web and social media/mobile. Photography was always there side by side. I enjoy the immediacy and flexibility of still photography and over time I have dedicaded more and more of my time to build a career as a still photographer.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I've worked with all types of customers, new couples getting married, families wanting portraits, professionals and actors seeking headshots. I've also worked for many celebrities and musicians like Snoop Dogg, Will I Am, Rick Rubin, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Wally Pfister, Lance Accord, Mark Romanek, Nate Dogg, Warren G, Ty Dolla $ign, B.o.B, Matt Barnes, Freddie Gibbs, Mos Def, KRS-One, Talib Kweli, Vince Staples, Pitbull, G Perico, Abstract Rude, Freestyle Fellowship, The Grouch, 2Mex, Busdriver and many others. I've also shot for many local businesses, designers and companies, as well as national and global brands like Nissan, Apple, Visa, Pedigree, Sony Playstation, Sony, Pur, Lexus, Infiniti, Atlantic Records, Pepsi, McCormick Spices, Masterfoods and Leapfrog.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I love live concerts and have been really missing it during the pandemic. Recently, I photographed a wedding in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco and there was a couple playing accoustic guitar in the park. It was a beautiful performance and I enjoyed listening to them after five minutes and share in the moment with them.
