How did you get started in this business?
I got started as a photographer in high school and went on to study photography @ the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Ma. I later finished my studies @ FIU in Miami and graduated with a Masters in Photography, a Bachelors in Philosophy, and a Bachelors in English Literature
What types of customers have you worked with?
During my college years, I worked as a photographer for the Miami Herald for 5 years, and when I finished my studies, I began a 10+ year career as a set photographer and web content producer for Nickelodeon Latin America's award-winning show "Grachi" and Telemundo's award-winning show "Caso Cerrado". In the last 2 decades, I've had the opportunity to photograph many events, families, weddings, engagement couples, music videos, products, food, and most everything under the sun. I love what I do and continue to be fascinated and surprised by photography, even after 24+ years.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
There's nothing like working with friends on a project. I recently got the opportunity to do a lifestyle shoot for a client/friend, @GroomCandy & @TheBrideCandy, who needed images for their business Instagram feed and website. I love coordinating and organizing multiple shoot locations and outfits and shooting photos where the client looks natural, relaxed, and genuine. I can make anyone look beautiful. I really believe that.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Photography is not cheap because equipment is very expensive and it takes many years of practice to be good at it. Don't go for the cheapest photographer quote! Lo barato sale caro! Find 3 quotes, compare the work and then decide. It's important to ask to see the work. Everyone presents their best-photoshopped images so make sure you see enough variety of work. For example, natural light photographers often have a hard time with low light/nighttime photography, so make sure you're getting the right skill set for the time of day you need photos done.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What is my budget?
How many hours am I going to need the photographer?
What type of images am I looking for?
Can I share any examples with the photographer to guide and match the images I am looking for?
How soon do I need the images?
