What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
In this day of anything goes in the wilde west, anything goes world of the internet. A good website is not necessarly an indicator of a good photographer, it's the sign of a good web designer. Edgy pictures are nice and creativity is important, but if you are having a wedding you will want a photographer that is not only creative but has the ability to do the tradiditional formal shots as well. The photographer should be able to demonstrate control of the lighting. You should be able to see the subjects eyes as well as detail in the background, be it the ambient light in a churvh, or a back yard nightime garden party.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Think about what you know you want, ask the photographer for their recomendation. Don't pay for what you want before you see the images. Packages are nice and can save money, but if the photographer is confident in their work, they can always create a package for you after the event, when you see what possibilites the images provide.
