    Frequently asked questions

My Process for Working With New Clients 1. Consultation & Planning We start with a conversation—either by phone, email, or in-person—where I learn about your vision, style, and what matters most to you. I’ll also guide you through my session options, artwork choices, and what to expect. 2. Session Design Together, we’ll plan the details: location (in-studio or on-location), wardrobe styling, props, and backdrops. For newborn sessions, I provide everything needed, from wraps to props, while ensuring baby’s safety and comfort. 3. The Session Your session is relaxed, enjoyable, and fully guided. I take care of posing, lighting, and styling so you can focus on being present with your family. For newborns, sessions are calm, baby-led, and safety-first. 4. Viewing & Ordering Appointment After your images are edited, we’ll meet for your reveal session. You’ll see your gallery for the first time and select your favorite portraits. I’ll help you design wall art, albums, or collections that best fit your home and lifestyle. 5. Delivery of Artwork Your custom heirloom artwork—whether it’s a framed portrait, canvas, or album—is carefully crafted by professional labs and delivered ready to display and enjoy for generations.

My Pricing System I offer a customized, luxury portrait experience with flexible collections designed to fit your family’s needs. My clients typically invest between $1,500 and $ 5,800 or more in their portrait artwork, depending on the size and type of collection chosen. Session Fee – Covers planning, styling, use of props, and your personalized photography session (maternity, newborn, children, or family). Ordering Appointment – After your session, you’ll view your portraits and select from a range of heirloom artwork options, including wall portraits, framed canvases, albums, and gift prints. Collections – I offer curated collections (such as my Gold Milestone Package, Womb-to-World, and Legacy Family Portraits) that provide the best value for families who want to preserve every milestone. ✨ Every collection includes custom artwork created with professional labs to ensure your memories last for generations.
How I Got Started My photography journey began after a life-changing back injury at age 21 that led to 10 major surgeries and countless treatments. Living with chronic pain taught me to treasure life’s fleeting, beautiful moments. Picking up a camera became both therapy and passion—it gave me a way to capture the love, connection, and milestones that mean the most. Over time, I invested in professional training and certifications, focusing especially on newborn safety and fine-art portraiture. What began as a way to preserve memories for my own family grew into a calling to help other families do the same. Today, I run Creations by Beth Photography, a boutique studio in Mokena specializing in maternity, newborn, children, and family portraits. My mission is to create heirloom artwork that families will cherish for generations.
Types of Customers I’ve Worked With I’ve had the joy of working with a wide range of clients, from expectant parents capturing their maternity glow to new families welcoming their very first newborn. I also specialize in photographing children’s milestones, high school seniors, and extended families who want to preserve their legacy with multi-generational portraits. Many of my clients value custom heirloom artwork—whether it’s wall galleries for their homes, fine art albums, or signature portrait collections. I’ve also worked with families who include their pets in sessions, making sure every member of the family is part of the story. Ultimately, my clients are people who want more than just digital files—they want a luxury, guided experience and portraits that will last for generations.
A Recent Event I’m Fond Of One of my favorite recent events was the Grand Opening of the newly renovated Red Barn at Yunker Farm in Mokena. I had the honor of photographing the evening, which included a moving 9/11 moment of silence, live music, and so many beautiful families gathered together. What stood out to me most was the sense of community and connection—neighbors coming together to celebrate, share stories, and create memories. Capturing those candid smiles, heartfelt moments, and the atmosphere of the event reminded me exactly why I love what I do. As a photographer, it’s not just about the portraits—it’s about preserving the feeling of the moment so people can relive it for years to come.
Advice for Hiring a Professional Photographer When choosing a photographer, look beyond just the price tag—focus on experience, safety, and artistry. For newborn sessions especially, ask if the photographer is certified in newborn safety and posing, since your baby’s comfort and security should always come first. Take time to review their portfolio to make sure their style matches the look and feel you want in your home. Do they create timeless, heirloom-quality artwork, or quick snapshots that may not last? Finally, ask about the experience beyond the session—from planning and wardrobe guidance to custom artwork delivery. A true professional will walk you through every step, making it stress-free and memorable. ✨ In short: Hire someone whose work moves you, who makes you feel comfortable, and who values creating portraits that will last for generations.
Questions to Think About Before Hiring a Photographer What moments matter most? Are you looking to capture maternity, newborn, milestones, family portraits, or a legacy session with multiple generations? Where do you want your portraits displayed? Think about whether you’d love a wall gallery, an heirloom album, or a statement piece for your home. What style speaks to you? Do you prefer posed fine-art portraits, candid lifestyle images, or a blend of both? How much guidance do you want? Would you like a fully planned luxury experience (styling, props, artwork design), or something more simple? What investment feels right? Consider not just the session itself, but the value of artwork that will last for generations. ✨ Thinking through these questions helps ensure you find a photographer who matches your vision and values—and makes your experience meaningful and stress-free.
