About
I have always felt this need to be artistic, but I am terrible at drawing, painting and don't get me started on my sculpting skills...
I really felt like something was missing in my life. I can remember getting these intense feelings of wanting to capture a beautiful sight I was seeing, a sunset, a row of flowering pear trees, a ready to pick pumpkin patch. This need was so intense that I convinced my mom and husband to help me buy a DSLR camera. I had these visions of capturing things the way I was seeing them. I had no intension of becoming a wedding or family photographer... That is until I had my own engagement photos taken by the very talented Keri Lynn Photography. I really admired her energy and the connection she made with my husband and I. The photos she captured totally amazed me. I didn't see myself the way she captured me and this put a whole new positive perspective on how I viewed myself. I started having this need of wanting to pass those feelings on to someone else. I started researching, taking classes, learning everything there was to know about photographing people. But who was going to hire me?? I had nothing in my portfolio that related to people.... but low and behold, my BFF got engaged!!! "OMG Katy, please, please, please let me take your engagement photos". And that, kids is how I met... wait no... how it all started. I was right to follow my instincts and I am so thankful I had the support of my family and friends who trusted in me and helped me get started.
Photography curbs my need to be artistic. I can hardly contain my excitement when I see an old brick wall with vines hanging down or beat up fence stretched across an overgrown field because I can see its potential for greatness in my photos. I love to connect with my clients, get them laughing with my awkward sense of humor and my knack for tripping on air. But most of all, I love to deliver images to them that take their breath away. I love what I do and I do what I love!
