Down to earth, but an absolute professional as far talent for scenes, poses and capturing the right atmosphere. I was extremely comfortable with Michael and he was able to direct me into poses that I felt natural in. He was able to capture my true personality without having me compromise for the sake of "art". I am an upcoming author and will have many other opportunities in which I will need photographs taken. I will be calling on Michael Mason Studios in the future.

I've hired Michael for over a dozen large events, both solo and with his team. Michael is a supremely talented photographer with a great eye, and on top of it, he's a sheer pleasure to work with. Funny, smart, direct, and knows how to take charge of a group in a very friend way. Great traffic director, gets shots done quickly, everyone loves hims, and he delivers beautiful results. Could not recommend him highly enough. Feel free to contact me at 917-817-1534 if you have any questions.

Michael photographed our wedding and reception. Michael had a fantastic attention to the mood, knowing when to capture candidly and when to interact with guests. His warm personality meshed with the people at the event, getting some great interactions. Planning was a thorough yet not overbearing process. I felt comfortable every step of the way and knew we would get fantastic results. Also, Michael is an all around great person! I cannot recommend enough!

Michael was so professional and worked with me to pull off a surprise proposal, posing as a tourist taking pictures clandestinely, then doing a formal shoot after she said yes that was so much fun and made my new fiancé feel really special. Thanks so much!!!

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Every client is unique so it always starts with a conversation. Realizing their vision takes time and an open ear to listen to not only what they’re saying but what they’re not saying. Creating a unique photo and capturing a memory takes energy and an eye to ensure you are always in the right place at the right time. Once the gig is photographed then I work to ensure photos are turned over in an efficient and effective manner.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Many years of on the job training dealing with every type of situation and finding solutions every time.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.

Every client is a unique pricing for their project.

How did you get started in this business?

I’ve always been in love with creating art. I started as a professional actor and turned my eye to the visual world while on many tours. I began my work by just photographing everything I was doing and then I just started to study every day. I love people and I have always been fun to be around and I make others feel incredibly calm and fun in front of my lens. I am in the constant pursuit of love and joy and how I can show that through my work.

What types of customers have you worked with?

All.

Everyone from a large corporation to a private in home boudoir to little newborns to large weddings.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I loved working as an event photographer for John Jay College. I was able to capture the moment when multiple ex-cons received their college diplomas. So many inspiring stories and speeches. I left with a true sense of joy and drive to really work hard towards any goal no matter the obstacles.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?

Ask every question you can think of. Then email more you think about afterwards. You aren’t just hiring the quality you’re hiring the person as well. You have to be comfortable and at ease with your photographer. It’s the most important aspect you should look for after quality.

What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?

When, where, who, what is it your trying to capture? Every event has its unique components. It’s really on the photographer to ask about those.
