Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always start out with a consultation. I think it's important to meet face-to-face to hear your story. The better I understand what you are looking for in a photographer, the better I am able to make that a reality for you.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been photographing bands for many years and have worked with some of the biggest names in music. I am the head photographer at Countryfest and Rockfest.
I have done freelance work for business and charities like Matter. I have had a lot of people see my work at the state fair fine arts building, in tour books, in print and online.
Because of all of this I started getting requests about 3 years ago to shoot weddings. I found that I enjoy it a lot. So when ever my schedule permits, I make myself available to photograph weddings.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
It all depends on what you are looking for. How many hours and what is expected of me.
How did you get started in this business?
Through the love of music and the photography just took over. Started with rock bands and country artists and spread to landscapes and a lot of travel. I found my way to wedding photograph and love it.
What types of customers have you worked with?
All types. First weddings, renewal of vows and everything in between. I shoot all types of styles.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
That would have to be Angie and Billy. Two people who met later in life. They have a beautiful relationship and they love each other so much. It was really rewarding to see how happy they were with the finished photos. Angie started crying when she first saw them. It's because I was able to capture so many things she was not aware of that happened that day.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Invest the time to sit down and talk to different photographers. It's the only way you will be able to get a feel for their work and if they would be a fit for you. This is one of the most important days in most people's lives. Make sure that you hire the right person for the job. Communication and organization are key.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
1) What type of photos you are looking for. It's ok if you dont know the styles or names so picking some photos off a site like pinterest will help the photographer to understand what your vision is.
2) Are you doing a first look? This one thing will control the schedule of your day. It goes by really fast so you have to have a plan.
3) Do you have a plan for your day? Again, timing is everything. The more you can share with me about how your day is structured, the better I can capture the day for you.
