Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Generally I like to talk about what the intendend usage is with the client. This is incredibly important to understand the output and how the process will ensure the outcome.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been doing photography in one form or another for 40 years. My interests and informal photographic training ranges from outdoor travel and adventure to family portraits with a good amout of event coverage and HS Seniors thrown in along the way.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Generally speaking I charge a shooting fee (for portraits) to cover time and travel (within 30 miles) and prints range a couple of dollars rfor 4x6s wallets up to several hundred for large format acrylics and metallic prints. Events and commercial work are quoted based on time. expenses, travel, and usage.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Families, corporate headshots, HS Seniors, modelling portfolios, modelling agencies, advertising agencies, and the full range of people needing contracted or stock photography.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Ensure they undrestand your desires and output. Shooting for print media and web media can be vastly different just like a posed portrait vs a casual captured moment.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What do you need the final outcome to be, and what is your usage? Do you need to stay on a strict budget or so you have a range that is acceptable?
