Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I want to know your goal for the project. That helps both of us establish the vision and goals for the project. Once we have a plan and agreeed upon the price, I will get everything ready for the project. The goal is to have a painless and efficient appointment. Upon completion of the shoot, I will prepare final delivery of the images.
For portrait sessions, I ask to be paid before the time of the shoot. For larger events or projects, there will be a deposit, with the remaining balance paid at final delivery.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BFA in Theatre Arts Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I am an experienced theatre designer and producer. Over the past 10 years, I have taught myself full service photography and video production through services like SkillShare and numerous video courses.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Portrait session (60-90 min) $125
Event photography starts at $200
Headshots (individual) $25, (group min 5) $5/shot
Interview (2 camera) start at $250
For larger projects, I prefer to discuss budget with the client before we set the rate sheet.
All of my photos packages include full editing.
How did you get started in this business?
I got started by taking photos at my son's karate studio after I realized how much I loved taking photos. I am able to use my design eye and sense of story telling to create meaningful images and preserve those special moments.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with schools, real estate agents, and several families.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Make sure you talk to them, get detailed quotes, and make sure you have a solid plan in place before pay them.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Be realistic in your expectations. Check their websites and any references. Make sure you are comfortable, and be specific in what you want because we will all try to upsell you something else!
