Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Initially I do a client consult. This can happen in person or via phone, email, or thru text. During this process clients are required to send pics or explain the type of hair condition, or style they want to achieve. For clients suffering with alopecia or hair trauma we usually schedule a 15 to 30 min consult so I can assess any damage and can advise how to proceed from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a licensed cosmotologist for over 10 years. I am a platform artist and educator. I have been trained and certified by world famous Tokyostylez in lace front wig install and styling. I am also a certified loctician, an can maintenance, restore and groom your natural or loc extensions.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I charge by the service . some factors that may impact the price is how long it takes to create a look from start to finish. My price list is A La Carte. Which means if you only want the extensions sewn in with no shampoo or cut and style that is what you will pay for. However, if you want a shampoo , color, trim, Sew in and style you will pay for each service as its own item to get a total price. All Sew in weaves and extensions comes with loose curl or bump.
How did you get started in this business?
I have had a passion for creating dope hairstyling since I was a young girl. I went to a vocational school expecting to be a graphic designer. Instead I ended up putting my graphics on someone's head. Giving them the Ultimate Hair style sure to stop traffic during rush hour! ( that's a fact). From that point on I excelled winning hairstyling ribbons and acquiring a clientele very quickly! I learned it was my Destiny to be a great hairstylist!
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have always been taught that hair is hair, and people are people. What we don't realize is people get crazy when it comes to their hair. I can say I have worked with all textures, many lengths and different personalities when it comes to the customers. The one thing that remains true with everyone is people love to feel good. Having a great hairstyle is one of the easiest ways to make people feel good! Speaking clearly and explaining what in doing and why I'm doing it usually puts people at ease and makes them more comfortable while they are sitting in my chair.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
The Bronner Brothers Hair show is coming in 2 weeks. I travel to many hair shows yearly. Everyday we are all still students of life and our crafts. It is important to stay on top if new trends. Going to this particular show is my favorite. It always ignites my hair creativity and passion. We need these events so we don't burn out as hairstylist
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Do your own research please. I don't advise anyone to go rob the doctor and tell the doctor what the diagnosis is. But I do expect you to be able to clearly state what the problem you have is so that the doctor can properly address your ailment. It annoys me when folk use wrong terminology for instance a lace frontal and lace closure are not the same . but they both can be used for the same thing. One requires more maintenance than the other. Customers have to do research so they are not blindsided by professionals and can pick the right one .
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Anything that will cause blood shed, or permanent changes to the body or skin should never be taken lightly. Extensive hours of research should be done.
