Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Upon contact and if preferred, I would love to set up a time for a quick call to discuss the vision for the project and square away all the details and address any initial questions you may have! Hearing your vision will help me have a better idea of what you're looking for aethetically and will help me have a accurate grasp of the scope of the project. I prioritize communication throughout the experience, so I'll be in touch to make your best images the best possible.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I love learning about photography in my downtime, and have taken a variety of online classes on the craft and skill of everything from photo editing, the latest softwares, and advanced lighting techniques, which I apply regularly in my work. I have also had the privilege of learning from and working for a successful portrait photographer in Maine before starting my own photography business initiative. Most of my training has been on the ground, learning by doing, and practicing.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing varies based on the scope of your project. The more work needed, the more compensation is a reality. You can visit my website pages for rates for headshot packages, and on-location portraiture rates, but if you already know the key details for your project, send them my way and I can provide a precise estimate for the work.
How did you get started in this business?
The passion is key, and I love creating colorful images for colorful personalities. I've always been a visual thinker and prefer it is a medium for story-telling. Once I realized I loved the anatomy and aesthetic of a great photo and that I liked helping people, I decided to run with the idea of starting a small photography business.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have had the privilege of working with clients including law firms, actors, bands, private businesses, and dancers!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
It's so important to look for the intangible qualities in your photographer. Many photographers know the same principles of lighting and editing. What sets a photographer apart is their ability to draw the best out of their subject, to connect on a deeper level, and over-deliver. Look for the photographers that put you at ease, want to get to know you, and care about the product THEY create more than about the money YOU provide!
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What is the end use for my images? This will help you determine anything from wardrobe to how many final images you desire! Having a better idea of what the images are for will help your photographer immensely!
