Our Faith Is Our Hope Consulting
About
I am Reverend Wayne K. Redman, and I currently serve as senior pastor of the First Church Baldwin, United Methodist Church in Baldwin New York. I have been an ordained minister since, 2016, and previously worked with congregations in the capacity as a Certified Lay Minister, and Certified Lay Servant for over twenty years, before becoming a member of the clergy.
In August of 2021, I became a Certified NYS Chaplain, and have completed two units of Clinical Pastoral Education to expand my capacity to be of service to those challenged by mental and social disorders, as I firmly believe the call to serve others includes all of God’s children.
One of the primary pillars of my theology is the belief that we need to come to understand the distinction between Faith and Religion. Our personal relationship with God, our creator and sustainer, or the higher power that one believes in, is what I refer to as Faith. Religion on the other hand is focused on the systems which our societies have attempted to force us to adopt, designed to provide order, roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities which are utilized to direct our faith journey. Therefore, while I support and I am part of a specific denomination, my objective as a pastor and chaplain is to help individuals to become more in touch with God, or their higher power as they progress in their personal faith journey…and this doesn’t require you to be part of a specific denomination.
When individuals are consider entering into the unit of marriage, it is imperative that they both have an awareness and insight into who they are, which includes what they stand for, what they believe as well as shared knowledge and understanding of the experiences that have impacted each of them in their lives and shaped them into who they are today. This empowers both individuals to work stronger, with keener understanding on the development of their marital unit. When I meet with couples, I encourage them to think about the joy and empowerment of being part of a cohesive unit…working together, sharing together, building a life together, and no longer being a solo entity as they will become united in marriage and vital components of an important spiritual unit.
