Halcyon Hills Photography
About
We provide exciting, beautifully lit and color-accurate portraits of families and individuals. We also operate a fashion photography business and do portfolio images for models and actors. We've been in business since 2010. We're the lead photographer for the Fort Mill Strawberry Festival Pageant as well as the lead photographer for Charlotte Fashion Week.
I love helping people look their very best! Getting to meet lots of new people and helping them enjoy the photography process is tons of fun!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After the initial contact, it's really important to have a personal conversation with a new customer to understand exactly what their needs and expectations are. A good place to do this is in our studio, where we can give a tour and explain options. But it can be done on the phone too.
After the conversation, we set a date and place for the photo session. After the session, we invite the customer back into the studio to view the best of their images on our large projection screen and make their choices. Retouching details can be discussed then as well.
After print orders are placed, we sent the images to our professional color lab where we have a long-standing relationship for reliability as well as for accurate color reproduction through calibration.
When the print products come back from the lab, we invite the customer in again to review them and take them home to enjoy!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a PhD in chemistry and have used that in the color and graphic arts industry, and developed a detailed understanding of good color management practices. Also, I've attended many workshops on creative composition, layout, posing and how to make images interesting.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
We price a photo session as a stand-alone event. Pricing can vary depending on the time required, the number of people, whether it's on-location or in the studio and whether I'm providing makeup/hair services.
Print products (and in some cases, digital files) are priced a la carte and will vary with the customer's needs. Our price list for standard print products is provided to the customer during the session planning process.
How did you get started in this business?
After photographing for friends and family for several years, I established the business as a South Carolina LLC in 2010. This allowed me to follow my dream as well as fill a service need in the local community.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Families, families with pets, business people, models/actors, pageant contestants. We also have a scan-and-repair service for older, precious photos and customers for that tend to be at or around retirement age. In addition, we do real estate photography and serve realtors at several agencies in upstate South Carolina.
