Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First thing I like to do is send my clients a questionnaire. This gives me some insight into what they want to get out of their session. Then we can either phone or video chat to get some more details. The phone call take usually take about 20-30 minutes. I've had some take less time when I get a client that really knows what they want!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My knowledge comes from experience and mentoring under some more established photographers.
How did you get started in this business?
Photography started as a hobby when I was very young. My uncle had given me a little camera that took 110 film cartridges (I'm telling my age!! haha) I took photos of everything I could then would use what money I got for good grades, doing chores etc and got my photos developed at the local print shop. Then in my late teens, there were these disposable digital cameras! Mind blown that we could see our photos and delete if we didn't like how they looked. It grew into a passion that lead to people asking for me to take their photos. Then I became a shutterbug on steriods once my kids were born, friends babies were born, family gatherings etc. Ultimately that lead me down the business path.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Did the photographer really try to get to know you prior to the session? Did you get a warm and almost comforting feeling when speaking with them.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Does the photographer book more than one wedding a day? Do they have experience shooting in different types of lighting..ie: harsh midday light or night?
