About
I have been a Portrait Photographer in Northern Virginia for 12 years, specializing in Maternity, Newborn, Children, Family's, Boudoir, Headshots, Real Estate Photos & some Events. Unfortunately at some point I got straight up "Burnt Out" and desperately needed to be inspired!
About a year ago I took some Creative Live Courses and have "found my calling!!!" Ever since then, I have been transitioning to a new photography adventure that not many others are doing. I'm now offering "Day in the Life" Family Documentary Sessions!
I cannot tell you how amazing it is to spend the day with a family while candidly capturing their lives, moments and connections from my perspective! These fleeting moments are so much more meaningful than any "pretty park bench" posed photo will ever be! I have found my niche and can't wait to share it with family's that invite me into their world!
Please take a moment to visit my new website to see what this style of photography is really about! I'm fresh to this style, so forgive me for not having much to show! Work in progress! :)

I love being able to tell the story of family through my perspective and share it in an artistic way! I absolutely LOVE meeting new family's and building strong relationships with them because they trusted me enough to invite me into their world...the good the bad the ugly...it is very intimate and special to me!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Once I get an email from my website Contact Page I initiate the process of finding out more about the client and their photography needs by emailing them a Questionnaire. Once I receive it, I reach out with my availability and set a date/time/location for our session. Then have clients sign some business forms and secure a deposit to hold their date and it also covers their session fee. Then we meet and I become part of your family for a day!!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have no formal training other than some online photography courses over the years. I have been a shutterbug since elementary school and have been mainly self taught! Plus 12yrs experience under my belt! :)
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Different types of sessions have different fees and product offerings, so it all depends on what the client is looking for! Basically there is a session fee along with Digital Packages and Custom Albums for purchase.
How did you get started in this business?
I was taking photos of so many friends and family for free here and there for a year or so. One day one of my friends referred her coworker to me to capture Engagement Photos for her and her fiance'. She simply asked "What do you charge for a session and CD of Digital Images?" So, I gave her a price and have never looked back!!! :)

"Day in the Life" Family Documentary
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I had my first FULL "Day in the Life" session back in March where I joined a family from 8am through 8:30pm! I had never met them before and it ended being so natural and comfortable for everyone! It was really special getting to be part of their world and capture the nuances, routines, mundane moments, endearing connections that made their family unique! The slideshow and album were amazing to me and treasured by them!
