Frayed Threads Mending
About
Frayed Threads Mending is a sustainability-focused textile and clothing repair studio based in Seattle, Washington, serving customers in Northeast Seattle’s Ravenna/Wedgwood area. The studio extends the life of garments through mending, knitwear darning, refashioning, and basic tailoring and alterations, addressing holes, tears, worn areas, and fit adjustments to keep clothing in use and out of the waste stream.
Led by Rachel Weigelt, who learned to sew from her grandmother and trained in couture techniques, patterning, and draping at the Seattle Fashion Academy, the studio combines skilled craftsmanship with a practical approach to garment care. Rachel also brings more than a decade of professional design experience to each project.
In addition to repairs and alterations, Frayed Threads Mending offers classes, including online options, to teach essential mending and sewing skills. The studio also produces zero-waste items made from upcycled textiles. Appointments are available by booking online, and services cover both clothing and other textiles with an emphasis on careful, durable work and waste reduction.
