About

I give one on one attention to customer needs and make suggestions when I think appropriate to enhance features and distract from those to de-emphasize. Number of fittings are dependent on type of alterations and if undergarments to be worn with the article can affect alterations.

Going to the customers chosen location has been a positive in customer comfort and availability of items, such as shoes that will be worn, when at their home.

In 1995, I became a personal designer and seamstress for an elderly lady with unusual taste in fashion. She provided me with the fabrics and decorative touches she wished me to use. I was asked to design her wardrobe from vintage chenille bedspreads, draperies, pillow shams, vintage lace, and a variety of old hankies and laces along with odds and ends such as buttons. I accepted the challenge, and she was extremely happy with all I designed and made for her. In just over six months of this unique relationship, she and her newlywed husband had to move into a distant assisted living community. She was a remarkable lady and I do miss her. I am currently working on a clothing line I have named "JUDY" after her and will be sure everything bearing her name will "make a statement entering a room, as well as when leaving it" - the one thing she insisted I put in all I designed for her.

I am limited to doing hems and cuffs on pants. I am not experienced in alterations having to do with the crotch/buttock area.

My skill set also includes buttonholes, clothing repairs, sewing garments from scratch (including wedding dresses, attendants, and flower girls).

Quilting is a passion I have and offer my services to quilt for others. Designing patterns, clothing, and quilts, is something I am dabbling in, but have not had any published currently.

My customers have come from word-of-mouth, advertising on my car back window, and in 1994-95 while I had a school teaching sewing and took in alterations, also. Most unique alteration was six 120" drapery panels to stitch together so they would pull as one. The weight was the most difficult issue in accomplishing the task. Customer was incredibly pleased with my work.
