Lia Sims Photography

Hi! I’m Lia Sims, an East Bay photographer specializing in thoughtful, creative, natural-light portrait, lifestyle, and small gathering photos. I create images that are artistic, predominantly candid, cinematic, and emotionally real.

I’ve been doodling with a camera for 18 years and have spent the last 7 years using it professionally. Photography is also in my roots! It was passed down to me through my father. I spent many days in his photo studio as a child, thanks dad!

My official training started in my junior year of high school in a 35mm film class. We even developed and printed our own work! I continued to grow my skills by moving onto intermediate film and digital photography at San Francisco City College.

Since then, I’ve continued building my craft through YouTube “education”, in person work shops, and a self paced online course called Rise Academy.

What it’s like working with me: collaborative, spontaneous, supportive, candid, creative, lightly guided, and playful. I’ll give simple direction and easy prompts so you can relax, move, and actually enjoy yourself.

My goal is for you to look like you, just more open, more alive, and more YOU than usual.
