About
You have an enormous variety of choices when it comes to photographers, especially in the San Francisco Bay Area. So how am I different? I am casual yet professional, friendly yet serious about the quality of my deliverables, and experienced yet open minded. My pricing is transparent, without surprises or add-ons and I aim to over deliver every time. I take only one wedding client a month in order that I might give each client all of my attention. I also take your privacy very seriously.

I have been shooting weddings, lifestyle and travel photographs for over 20 years. I love what I do- it is not just a job but a vocation, and I hope it shows in my work. My style is laid-back and unobtrusive, embracing natural light wherever possible to capture the honest and raw moments of the day as it unfolds, producing clean, beautiful and emotive images. My goal is to create some joy in this world by adding beauty and happiness to it; it fills my heart to make people happy through my work.

All of my portrait shoots are on location, at a spot we pick together, and my production work is done in-house.
My clients say it best:
“.. a spectacular lady with great professionalism”
“She has a natural way with people...”
“She is practically invisible...”
“If weddings weren’t ‘once in a lifetime’, we’d want her there for every one!”
Jody's work has been seen in The Knot, Engaged! Magazine, The Art of Capturing Love, 7x7 Magazine, Borrowed & Blue, Equally Wed, and more.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We will start with a phone call so I can answer your questions and walk through your needs. We will chat as often as you need before our scheduled day.
I believe you should like your photographer; so let's chat or meet! I want you to be excited!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
With over 20 years of experience, and a love of my work, I will help you have a worry-free day, a beautiful product to last for years to come, and all the attention you need before and after!
I continually take classes (and teach classes) to stay fresh.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.

How did you get started in this business?
I have had a camera in my hand since high school. I am an incurable romantic at heart and love shooting weddings. I also love kids and travel, so being able to work with all of my loves has been a joy!
A little about me- I was raised in Colorado, hiking and skiing, went to school on the East Coast and landed in California by a wonderful stroke of luck. I love hiking and exploring, shooting these beautiful land- and cityscapes of ours in my down time. I adore kids (and have two of my own) and teach art at a local school when I can.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I work with anyone, though same sex weddings are my forté- I am proud to support marriage equality through my art (please ask about same sex discounts). In addition, once or twice a year I donate my services to a charitable cause, ranging from professional foundations and non-profits to couples who are suffering from unexpected life consequences. Please give me a shout should you know of a good cause to which I can contribute my services. Or reach out just to say "hi".
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of the events that was most fun to me was a Halloween wedding on the coast of Hawaii. All of the guests, as well as bride and groom, were in costume.
I am also lucky enough to get to travel for destination weddings. My favorite of those was in Venice, Italy, masks included!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I have a few posts on how to choose a photographer, and pitfalls to avoid. Please feel free to peruse! https://www.holmanphotography.com/photography-tips
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
One of the things I do most often is walk through the schedule for weddings, and through location and ideas with portrait clients. But here is a list of questions to ask your photographer: https://www.holmanphotography.com/wedding-photographer-pricing
