How did you get started in this business?
In 1984, there were no dedicated Children's Professional Photographers in Denver. Cameras were film based, heavy and manual focus. It was hard work.
I had a beautiful baby. The doctors in the Emergency Room (where I was working as a nurse), told me that my 35mm work was good, and "I should be a photographer". The rest is history.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Many of my families have grown up with me. For example, last week I photographed a family of four. The mother was only a child herself when I first photographed her. I LOVE my clients like my own family!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I do not photograph events--only newborn, baby, child and family portraits.
What advice would you give a customers looking to hire a vendor in your area of expertise?
Look deep into the website at the photography. It is easy to display one or two outstanding photos. A true Professional can create beautiful portraits consistently, in every session.
Also, look for skin tones. Many photographers are overexposing/underexposing the skin, or using funky color effects that will not print well. I am a fanatic perfectionist when it comes to printing for beautiful skin tones.
What questions should customers think through before talking to vendors about their needs?
Don't skimp on photography because life has no rewind button. Hire a Professional who will help you achieve your dream portraits (with a guarantee). You will NEVER be sorry. Just ask my any of my clients.
