Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Getting an understanding of what problem they are looking to solve with our services. If you are getting married, the problem is you want great memories so the solution is you hire... and so on. For Freeflight, it's more than just a solution, we want to make sure there is a transformation for our client. It's our goal to have such a positive outcome that our clients lives are changed, whether they make more money, attain greater exposure or simply smile everytime they look back at what we did together.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Studied under master photographers for years. Learned graphic design, painting, 3D Design and sculpting to learn how to see things from a different perspective. But the practice and love of the craft is what stands out in our work.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Depends on the project and service requested. If you are doing a film that requires a crew, locations, marketing, social media management etc. the pricing will be far different that if you need a wedding captured or a headshot. All in all, we charge fairly...we want you to hire us again and again.
How did you get started in this business?
My grandfather was a photographer and I was always with him. He was also a singer and pianist so the arts flowed through me. It was a natural progression to continue and expand upon that which gave such comfort when I was young.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We have worked with celebrities, corporations, small businesses, models, dance schools, recording artists on all levels as well as architects, politicians and state projects.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Most fond memory:
A call came in...Kevin, are you able to leave to Vienna in five hours?
My Response...How many days and what airport should I meet you at.
Client unkown, I packed traveled and learned that we were taking a private jet to Europe. On that flight, I had a wonderful conversation with Fran Dresher, I met Pamela Anderson, The Blondes and many more awesome people! My client was Sister Sledge and still to this day, I love them. We went from one party to another, I captured everything but the best part was when they couldn't get a press pass for me so I went in the limo with them and shot while walking down the red carpet while thousands of people from every nation were in the stands. Pretty intense week...still wishing to work for Be'yonce.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Hire them, not just what you see from their work. Make sure you like them. Some of us seriously love this and want to make our next shoot is the best we've ever done. Make sure the person you choose is interested in being the hero of your day in the area you need them and are not in it just for there own benefit.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Ask a person WHY they want to do your event. You'll learn a lot from that question, this is where silence is golden. If they don't know why they want to do it, perhaps they don't and just want to get paid for a job. Granted this is fine in most cases but photography and videography are artforms, so find an artist with passion; it'll show in their work.
