    Frequently asked questions

Onboarding a customer for video production work typically consists of a conversation over e-mail or telephone where we discuss their project(s), any examples similar to what they are looking for and their budget.

After discussing these things, determining whether or not LoftonFilms is a good fit, and finalizing the budget & contracts we then move forward to the first step of the production process.

We typically write, film and edit projects within the timespan of a month or less.  Bigger or more expansive projects may take longer depending on the scope and budget.

Over 12 years professional experience working in video production and a lifetime of experience making films.

I have a rate sheet that is available to view once we have discussed your project.

Typically I give clients 2 options for budgets:

#1 - They have a budget and we stick to it, with contractual stipulations for overages. 9 times out of 10 there are NO OVERAGES, so long as the client stays within the boundaries of the original scope of the project and there aren't several re-edits (as an example).

#2 - LoftonFilms personnel hourly rates, time-tracked.  This method may give you a better EXACT cost in the end, but typically ends up being more expensive. I usually recommend clients take the flat-rate #1 route.

Grew up in a family that owned a dinner theater. Went to film school. Worked as an Associate Producer / Producer for 8 years. Now I'm freelance and own my own company.

Small-time business owners up to big-time corporate executives.

Lockheed Martin, Clark Construction, American Red Cross to name a few.

It's all about providing the highest possible quality product to the client, and enjoying the experience of working together.

I recently won 8 awards for my short film, "Alloway Lane" including Best Editing and Best Producer.

Cultivate a relationship of trust and understanding. And if you don't know exactly what you want, try to get the creative professional to help you find examples before you start working on the project to save everybody time and money.

    What's your budget?

What's the desired total running time (TRT) of your project?

Real people, live-actors, CGI, animation or text? Combination of all / some?

Find some really good examples of something similar to what you're going for.

The more EDITS you request, the more expensive it's going to get.  If you have a clear vision of what you want, put it into words or pictures. This will help IMMENSELY.

If you don't know what you want, figure it out BEFORE you film ANYTHING.
