About
I no longer use this platform actively, so if you would like to submit a request for a proposal, please contact me through the contact form on my website jasminesomers.com
My passion for photography and videography started back in 2005 when I got my hands on my first film SLR camera. I learned the ins and outs of how cameras work, lighting, composition, color theory, contrast, and more. I also gained a unique perspective from learning how to edit in a darkroom before ever learning Photoshop or any other editing software. It is on this foundation of technical knowledge that I've built my photography knowledge, style, and brand.
I love seeing people's joy when they see their special moments beautifully captured. I also enjoy making someone feel great, seeing themselves look good, captured in a way they haven't been before. Finally, I enjoy using my creativity every day.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When working with a new client, I like to get to know as much as possible about the client's vision, their needs and wants, and their expectations. I am open to the process that the client is most comfortable with, whether that is emails, phone calls, or in-person meetings. Once we have gone over all essential details, we can schedule and move forward with the shoot, and eventual delivery of photos/videos.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My education in photography and videography dates all the way back to 2005 when I first started learning film photography and photo development/printing. I continued to learn digital mediums throughout my college career at York University and Georgian College in Canada. My education on photography and videography has continued to be ongoing since then, as I have taken workshops and classes with several world-class and award-winning photographers and editors.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I offer standard pricing on my website, but I find that most clients benefit from a custom package with a price that suits both their wants/needs and their budget.
How did you get started in this business?
I have always had a passion for photography and the arts, and it slowly started to become a business as I began to travel after college, and some of the people that I met along my travels people began to appreciate my work and request my help with their photography needs.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I've worked with a wide variety of customers to date, from a variety of local businesses in the Cayman Islands, to non-profit organizations in Miami such as the Top Gun Fighter Foundation in Miami. I have also done photos of food and events in Miami and area for A Joy Wallace catering and Stellar Media Agency. In addition to that, I have done engagement photos for multiple clients in the Miami area as well as automotive photography for multiple individual clients who race at Palm Beach International Raceway and/or participate in local car shows.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently shot a cocktail party and product launch event for Famigo at the Van Gogh Experience exhibit at the Olympia Theater in Maimi. The event was a great experience and included art exhibitions, cocktails & hors d'oeuvres, DJs & dancing, speeches, and a live performance by Ivy Queen. It was a great night and I got some amazing shots for the client!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I would encourage a potential new client to browse many photographers/videographers and speak to the top 3 to 5 that they like best. It is important to ensure that you are not only hiring somebody who has a portfolio that impresses you, but also who connects well with you, understands your vision, and treats your job professionally.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Customers seeking a photographer or videographer have a lot of things that they may want to think through before talking to pros about their needs. My top suggestions would be:
- What photos/videos inspire you when you think about how you want this to turn out? Creating a "vision board" can help!
- When do you want the shoot to happen (if not on a specific event date)?
- Do you require more than one outfit? More than one location?
- Do you want to shoot in a natural setting or in a studio?
- How many photos do you need (if you require a specific number of shots)?
- What questions do you want to ask the pro that will make you feel more comfortable with working together?
