Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I prefer to speak on the phone to get to know a client and their needs and vision as well as understand their expectations and what their desired outcome is. We discus locations, clothing, styles, etc. as well as pricing and budgets. It really helps to fully grasp a clients vision so that I can best satisfy and deliver the best outcome to them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I lived and worked as a professional singer and songwriter in NYC for many years and was on countless sets of very high end photographers soaking in as much information as possible. Photography has been a long time passion for me and dates back to classes in high school, through college and some continuing ed years after. Nothing has taught me more than just being on the job. Each job is unique and new and I always approach with enthusiasm and keep a "go with the flow" attitude as well as have a plan.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I have a basic standard session fee which is separate from print fees. I have found over the years that each client is different and their needs vary widely. It's important for me to understand those needs and try to meet them. Some only want a few of the top photos, others want them all. I always try to accommodate clients as well as honor my time and work. Photography is a lot more work than anyone realizes. Photographs are a timeless & priceless investment.
How did you get started in this business?
Years ago. It has always been an incredible passion of mine to create art through film and to capture the beauty in people and joy. I started to get more serious about it after I had children and finding a way to do what I love and earn a living as well. I am completely blessed to do what I love.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Commercial, business, models, actors, Realtors, families, brides and grooms, newborns, engagement, large events, rock stars.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I did a family photo session on the beach recently with extended family and during the session one of the newer married couples, a grown child of the grandparents, announced their pregnancy. There was so much joy!! I had only known just before the session began that they planned on doing it. It was fantastic, spontaneous and the reactions on everyone faces were priceless!
What advice would you give a customers looking to hire a vendor in your area of expertise?
Be sure you know what you are signing up for. Be sure their work is efficient and thorough. Make sure you are getting all the information up front so there are no hidden fees or surprises.
What questions should customers think through before talking to vendors about their needs?
Do they specialize in high end editing ? Do they have a good website? Do they have a good reputation and deliver solid work? Do they deliver on time or early or does it take months and months for people to get their photos?
