Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It is important for me to have a good understanding of the concerns the client has for her hair. So I ask a lot of questions about previous services and products used at home.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have trained within companies for products I use to have a better understanding of what I am using and to also have the right information to be able to explain to clients what I am using and what it's going to do for their hair and scalp.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Yes, I do have a standard pricing system. My prices are very much comparable with other stylist in the neighborhood. So the prices are fair.
How did you get started in this business?
I started in cosmetology in High School. I became interested in the science of hair more so than the fashion side of the business. I graduated high school and two months later was enrolled in cosmetology school and graduated and was licensed in 1990.
What types of customers have you worked with?
My clients are hard working married and single mothers. I have been privileged to have their daughter come in salon for service too. My clients all have basic concerns with their hair. Keeping their hair and scalp clean, controlling dandruff, protecting between color and/or chemical services- pretty basic stuff. On occasion I might have someone with a shedding issue or hairline thinning from braids (which I do not do) and we work together to get their hair back on track.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I would advise you check for license. Interview the stylist. Ask questions regarding your hair concerns and be sure the answers are clear. It helps if you are referred by a current client. Check social media for their work.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Before speaking to a professional be sure to know what your goal is with your hair. Be sure it's something realistic. Be prepared to answer questions as we are always needing to know as much as possible about your hair.
