About
Hey! My name is Matthew Haehnlen, and i’m a freelance photographer/videographer. With over a year of freelance experience and a role as a Sports Photographer at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, I bring a proven ability to capture high-quality images under varied conditions and collaborate effectively with clients and stakeholders. My hands-on background spans sports, wildlife, landscape, astrophotography, automotive, and portrait work, supported by proficiency with professional-grade Canon mirrorless and DSLR systems, lenses, gimbals, drone platforms, and editing tools.
In my freelance practice at MattShotzz Photography (April 2024–present), I manage all stages of a shoot, including consultation, planning, execution, and final delivery, to ensure exceptional client experiences. As a Sports Photographer for Embry-Riddle (February 2025–present), I coordinate with event directors, secure media passes, and deliver timely and impactful coverage in dynamic environments. These roles have honed my adaptability, technical precision, and communication skills, enabling me to anticipate action and adjust swiftly to changing conditions.
Beyond photography, I founded Phoenix Cameras (February 2025), a camera resale business in which I refurbish equipment, negotiate sales, and plan for online expansion. This entrepreneurial venture underscores my organizational abilities, customer-focused approach, and familiarity with the broader photography market. I also enjoy mentoring beginner photographers and sharing techniques and artistic insights to support their growth.
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering at Embry-Riddle, I balance rigorous academic commitments with professional photography work, demonstrating strong time
management and a disciplined mindset.
