Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to take the time to get acquainted with a new client to know his or her lifestyle, line of work, and style inspirations. It also important to discuss maintenance and set up the proper expectations. My role is not simply to deliver a cut or color, but to listen to the client and guide them with my experience so that they can get the most out of their service.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been working in the industry as a stylist and an educator of other stylists for over 15 years. I’ve trained at multiple academies such as Sassoon and L’Oreal Professional and have worked along side many renound industry professionals from all over the US and the world. I work with the most recent color trends as well as the tried and true techniques that I have perfected over my years of doing hair for a living.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I believe in fair and competative pricing to help people get the most value out of their service. My tiered pricing accounts for the amount of time and level of detailing. A blow dry is included in the cost of your hair services because it is part of the process, especially for the cut. When getting multiple services at the same time I am able to offer a combo-price and it is a better value for the client.
How did you get started in this business?
When I was in college studying film and photography I realized I had a natural “knack” for hair. I began intuitively and decided to persue a career. The opportunities in this industry to work for different companies and to grow my own indépendant business are very rewarding.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with a wide range clients from many backgrounds: working professionals, artists, homemakers, brides and retirees. I also have also worked with professional models in runway and fashion photography. The common thread among all of these clients is that communication is of the utmost importance, no matter who is sitting in the chair.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Feel like the stylist is knowledgeable and that you are comfortable communicating your needs. A good stylist listens and takes all feedback to heart. You pay good money for a good service and should keep an ongoing dialogue between stylist and client.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What do they want their hair to say about them?
How often is realistic to maintain the look they desire?
How can they get the most out of their service within their budget?
Are they willing to invest in products that will help them get the most out of their service.
