Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to get to know my clients, beforehand. Maybe schedule a sit down, for some face-to-face time. Check their vibes. Their little quirks, that make them THEM!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am mostly self-trained. I did, many years ago, while I was stationed in Germany with the Army, did take a photography class, that was taught by an old German man, by the name Gunther. He was amazing. He taught me the basics. I spent almost 2 weeks learning about cameras, focal point, depth of field, framing up of pictures, etc before I even placed film in a camera.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I use the flat rate method. Whatever the price is. That's the price for everything included. If I deem, that I might have to charge more for extra. I will discuss that with my potential client.
How did you get started in this business?
Looking at National Geographics and Time magazines, as a kid. I was always mystified by the awesome pictures.
What types of customers have you worked with?
All kinds. From all walks of life. Even a few Rock And Roll Hall Of Famers!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Volunteering for the New England Epilepsy Foundation. I did a pro bono shoot for their annual Prom. I had such a fun time!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Shop around! Just because a photographer is expensive, doesn't necessarily mean they're better! Look at their quality of work. What makes them unique. Find a style you like!
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What are your (as the client) needs for the shoot.
