Acia A. says, "Eldridge Taylor’s demeanor was a personable & professional from the onset of booking. Very patient and knowledgeable about what shooting locations around Boston. And helped us identify individual poses and group shots that help bring to fruition our vision. The final edits captured the essence of our family of 4 and were better than imagined, I would highly recommend his services, and look forward to working with him again in the future. " Read more

Alexandra K. says, "As a wedding professional, I've worked alongside Bruno Mamede at countless weddings and when it came to my own wedding, I knew without a doubt that I wanted Bruno to capture it. We actually selected our wedding date based on Bruno's availability - we just couldn't imagine anyone but Bruno being there to document the day! We were so honored that Bruno was able to join us for our wedding weekend in Pennsylvania. Bruno's talent is obvious - and shines through in any of his photographs. He is truly a master of his craft. Bruno's ability to capture the most intimate of moments, artfully frame the most stunning of photographs, and his mastery of light make him one of the most talented photographers I've had the privilege to work with professionally - and now personally. Bruno has this incredible ability to capture indoor photographs in way I have seen few other photographers do. He's able to bring that same natural, lit-from-within-glow to his indoor photography, and do so effortlessly. Much of our wedding took place indoors (and even more than we originally planned as it ended up raining!) but Bruno blew us away with the photographs and the quality of light he was able to capture. I know few other photographers would have been able to do what he did. What you may not be able to tell is the kind of person Bruno Mamede is. He is an utmost professional and widely respected among the Boston wedding community and beyond. But Bruno is also a funny, genuine person and caring friend. Bruno blended in seamlessly with our wedding guests and his calming, easy-going presence was a cherished part of our wedding weekend. Bruno gave us the greatest gift in being our wedding photographer and we are so grateful for the stunning photographs he created. Thank you Bruno, for everything! We are forever grateful to you!" Your photography questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Fash.

The average cost to hire a photographer is $100 to $250 per hour, depending on their experience. However, photography prices vary significantly depending on the type of event or photo session:

The standard tipping etiquette for photographers depends on the type of photo session or event and how happy you are with the photographer's service:

  • Tip a wedding photographer $50 to $200 if the photographer exceeds your expectations. If the photographer works with a second shooter, be sure to tip the second photographer separately.
  • Consider tipping a family portrait photographer, pet photographer, or newborn photographer if you're happy with the photo session. However, tipping is not expected for family portraits taken at a big box store like JC Penney or Wal-Mart.
  • Tipping a photographer is not expected for headshots, commercial photography, real estate photography, or architectural photos.

If you're happy with the photographer's service, post a positive review online and share their photos on your social media.

Follow these tips to save money when you hire a photographer:

  • Book a "mini-session" – a shorter photo session that lasts only 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Choose your favorite photographers and follow them on social media. Some photographers may provide deals and exclusive offers.
  • Hire a less experienced photographer. However, be sure to review their portfolio to confirm they have enough skill to meet your photo needs.
  • Purchase prints from an online retailer instead of ordering them from the photographer.
  • Bundle multiple photo sessions for a discounted price. Some wedding photographers bundle engagement and wedding photos. Other photographers offer a bundle for newborn photos plus additional sessions as your child grows.

Book a wedding photographer as early as possible, ideally as soon as you've confirmed the date with your venue. Headshot, commercial, pet, and family portrait photographers typically don't require as much advanced notice. However, a popular, in-demand photographer may be booked out several months in advance.

Follow these guidelines when searching for a photographer to ensure you find one who is the best match for you:

  • Look for photographers who specialize in the type of photography you want. A photographer who specializes in weddings won't be the best choice for a newborn baby photo shoot, and vice versa.
  • Review their online portfolios to confirm you like their photography style and aesthetic.
  • Read photographer reviews on Fash and Google.
  • Get a contract in writing before making a deposit.
  • Discuss the photo usage and printing rights to confirm how both you and the photographer can use the images. Photographers typically retain the copyright to the images, allowing them to use the photos for marketing and social media.

Ask these questions to help you choose the best photographer for your needs:

  • How long have you been in business?
  • What type of photography do you specialize in?
  • What is your photography style?
  • Do you have an online portfolio I can view?
  • How far in advance should I book my photo shoot?
  • What deposit do you require, and is it refundable?
  • Do you have a photo studio? If not, where will you take the photos?
  • What should I do to prepare for the photo session?
  • How will you deliver the final photos to me?
  • How long will it take to get the photos?
  • Do you offer printed items or photo albums?
  • Who owns the rights to the photos?
  • Will you use my images on social media or your website portfolio?

Carol is a true creative! The senior portraits she took of our twins are so gorgeous and so personal. She uses natural light and interesting natural settings ( a lichen stained stonewall was one rich background Among others) and she really brings out the personality in her subjects. My favorite pictures are of the kids laughing. Carol was fun to work with - collaborative, flexible, and the consummate professional!

My wife and I got married June 23rd 2018. Chris did an amazing job! He got a lot of awesome shots of my wife and I but what I really liked was he shot a lot of everyone just having a good time and enjoying the day which I loved. My father in law passed away about a month before the wedding and we had a picture of him on a chair and Chris really made it a point to get some really good shots of that picture. That's not what we asked for but he just knew that it meant a lot to us that he couldn't be there in person and now we have those pictures that last a lifetime and its something we can really look back on and cherish. Chris is the best and I would highly recommend him for any event!

Bruno was fantastic. He responds very quickly to emails and texts. We spoke with him twice before the wedding to go over details and what we were looking for, and he very patiently answered all of out questions. We had a blast on our wedding day, it was a Minimony at the Copley Fairmont during COVID, and we had the whole place to ourselves. Bruno is very familiar with the Fairmont, so we went to all the different ballrooms and hallways to take photos. He did a great mix of formal and informal photos and was easygoing and fun to work with. The photos were available within a few weeks and they are GORGEOUS. We could not be happier with them. And his rates are very reasonable. We highly recommend Bruno!!
