Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to meet virtually with all my new customers, either via Zoom or Hangouts. This allows us to social distance while getting 'social' in a comfortable environment.
Since this is a customers first time talking with me, I encourage them to ask any and all the questions that they may have about me and the type of photography I am known for doing.
Once we have met, talked about the photoshoot that the client wishes to have, and scheduled a date as well as a duration of time for said photoshoot, I then will draw up a contract to send to the client.
The client will then have five business days to e-sign the contract and pay the session fee.
Once the contract has been received, I will let the client know either via email or a phone call. Then a few days before our shoot, I will check in with the client and remind them of what items to bring (if needed).
Then the real fun begins!
On the day of our shoot, we'll finally meet. After working together to create the image shots desired, I will let the client preview the images and select their top picks before ending the session.
After the 7 business day editing wait, I will contact the client for another virtual meeting to review the images and any other additional purchases (prints, framed work, merchandise, etc.).
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
A part from my work as an office manager, which taught me how to keep a schedule, improve my critical thinking skills, and assist clients professionally, I also worked as an assistant photographer for several years with two established photographers in my hometown.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
My non-refundable session fee starts at $100, and it secures the agreed upon time slot for your shoot.
How did you get started in this business?
The need to see more women that look like me, outside of the 'cuddly and friendly' troupe is what lead me towards professional photography.
After high school, I began to travel aboard and was shocked at how little representation there was of more diverse wanderlust people like me that was available. So I bought a second hand camera from a friend and started practicing, using myself as the main subject.
Another friend asked me a year later to take part in a cosplay meetup in Seoul one weekend and my love of photography has only grown since in the time since.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Well, before COVID-19, I have worked with groups of a dozen or more for social events, holidays, and cosplay meetups.
Now I mainly work with clients one on one for portraits and headshots.
Though lately I am working virtually with clients for more product photography.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My latest product photoshoot comes to mind, as it is the second one that I've ever done. A new client (an indie author) sent me several of their paperback books and gave me complete creative control of the shoot, no prompts whatsoever.
I was nervous, but after a little research on their writing genre and a burst of sunlight to help along my creative process, I was able to submit the amount of images that we agreed upon with one day left to spare for the deadline.
Talk about flirting with a deadline!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Don't be afraid to ask questions.
A photographer may be great at taking photos, but would they be a great fit for taking photos for (or with) you?
Remember that when choosing your photographer and you'll be on track to having an awesome shoot!
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
There are many that come to mind, so I'll just go with the ones my last client asked me:
What is your late/tardy policy?
Do you provide a 'team' (hair/makeup/assistant)?
Is it okay to have music playing during the shoot?
