About
As a photographer who is a father, husband, friend, cancer-warrior and survivor, and a world explorer, I'm passionate about people and life. I love capturing people's experiences in that instant the shutter closes, helping to create memories that invoke the thoughts and feelings around their most important memories. My unique experiences doing photo-documentary work, while volunteering in communities, in the developing world have taught me to be able to see and capture empathy, joy, compassion and curiosity in each situation. We're located in Victoria, MN, in the Minneapolis area, and I'm grateful for the moments I get to share with my clients at events in both their professional and personal lives. I love what I do!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Here’s what my process looks like: I offer my quote for the work as it has been requested, based on the information you've provided. The next step is to set up time to chat about details and your expectations, at a time and date that is convenient for you. This helps me fully understand your needs related to the project. Once we’ve agreed on and made any necessary adjustments, we will of confirm the date, timing and location for the shoot and make sure its on my calendar. Once you’re happy and want to proceed, I send out a deposit for your date (50% of the total fee) and you mark me as hired here in Thumbtack. The fee does not include any permits that may be needed, depending on the location we’re shooting in. Parks and some locations do require a permit to be requested ahead of time. I can help with that of course. Shortly before the day of the shoot I will contact you to confirm what we have already agreed on and to hear if there are any changes you’d like to request. If I'm traveling to your location which in this case of course I will be, I will show up a little early to set up equipment and get ready for your shoot. My equipment is portable and travels with me, so if you require multiple locations, it's all easy enough to do. The balance of your fee is payable the day of the shoot. Once the shoot is over, it will typically take my 2-4 weeks to get the first edit of your pictures done, before I am ready to present them to you. Once you've done your review and selected your favorites, I finalize the pictures and get them to you in the format you’ve requested. I can offer you printing of pictures or photo books, if that is something you’d like as well. These are at an additional cost, however I pass on my wholesale pricing to you for any of that.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a photo journalist for projects in developing countries for the past 9 years as well as taking additional photography courses 3 to 4 times a year to stay current with new technology, developments and trends in the industry.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing is based on my professional experieince, my time, any travel I might do for a shoot, the equipment I need and any direct expenses related to your project. I try to keep my pricing as low and as competitive as I possibly can, and to work with and understand each clients personal needs and circumstance. I act, and price my services, fairly. I look forward to working with you.
How did you get started in this business?
I started photography at a young age and have literally developed my skills across my lifetime.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with corporate, not-for-profit and private clients. My work includes photo journalism, portrait, event, corporate, real eastate, sports, animal, street, and landscape photography.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My favorite shoots involve children and animals. Recently, I was asked to do portraits for a newborn baby. He had been through a tough time after birth and was so calm and wonderful to work with. A little fighter and such a gift.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Most important is to have a conversation with the pro. Find out how they think. How they approach their work and the subjects they work with. Make sure they make you feel comfortable and that you are in good hands?
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What is the purpose of your shoot? Who are the subjects? What is important to you about this shoot? What dates and times work for you, considering the typeof pictures you want? Time of day can affect the look and feel of your pictures if you are wanting pictures taken outdoors. What is your budget? What ravel might be involved? What format do you want see your pictures in?
