Q & A

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Phone or in-studio consultation to determine client preferences and ideas they imagine.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Master Craftsman Photographer and Certified Professional Photographer.  LIfe member of Professional Photographers of America and Professional Photographers of Iowa as well as American Society of Photographers and Certified Professional Photographers of Iowa.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.

Pricing for services are customized for sessions. High school senior sessions start at $50; Family sessions start at $100; Business sessions start at $75.

How did you get started in this business?

I was a high school English teacher with the responsibility for the school yearbook.  I took photography and journalism courses in the summer break.  After teaching photography to the students taking yearbook classes, I was asked to photograph families, weddings, children and high school seniors.  I took photography classes through professional organizations and eventually taught other professional photographers at conventions in surrounding states.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with all ages of people and types of photography over the years.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

Because I have been photographing professionally for so many years, my favorite experience is photographing for another generation where I have taken the senior pictures of the parents of current high school seniors.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?

Look at the work done by the photographer and see if you love the results.  Meet the photographer to learn if your personalities are compatible.

What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?

Decide the feeling you want to have when you view the images.
