Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to start out with a phone call or a face-to-face meeting if that's possible. It really depends on the scope of the job. Some projects are very simple and don't need long meetings. It's always good to do a little brainstorm before each shoot though.
Attention to details is a tremendous part of any successful photo project.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started doing my own Photography Freelance in 1986 and have grown to a very large studio in the course of 30 years shooting almost everything you could imagine.
I have a Commercial Photography degree from The Portfolio Center in Atlanta GA.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
My base rate is $250 per hour. I adjust that for individuals because most of my clients are corporations or marketing entities.
Big Bang for the buck. I shoot and make creative decisions quickly. I don't need a lot of time to get great shots. This comes from doing it for such a long time!
How did you get started in this business?
I originally shot children's photography for several years in department stores at 18. Later I did family portraiture until I was 25. After that I did mostly fashion photography for about 12 years doing catalogs.
Now I shoot business lifestyle, fashion, music videos, corporate marketing and advertising.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have work for several adhesion sees and marketing firms. I also did a fashion spread for a magazine for six years. In some cases I just shot products for department stores.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have attended Burning Man festival in Nevada for the past 20 years. It revives my Creative soul!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I would start out by listing some really good questions. But most importantly if you like their work. that's the main thing. make sure you see a sample of their work.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Look for samples of work that you like that you can imagine yourself in. This helps the photographer greatly to see the style that you like.
