How did you get started in this business?
My passion for photography began at the impressional age of 12 as I witnessed the magical chemical reaction of a B&W print slowly emerge from the developing tray in a makeshift basement darkroom.
Two years later, I enrolled in a photographic workshop where the well known photographer & printer Larry Colwell left an indelible impact upon my early visual language. Once in college while studying at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, master photographers Julio Mitchel, Todd Watts & Sid Kaplan’s combined influence refined the direction of my personal vision & disciplined technique.
Although the tools of photography have evolved with technology, my visual objective remains the same: …with each decisive moment, I deactivate the clock & preserve my distinct perception of time & space.
For the last 3 decades I’ve been working as an independent assignment photographer interpreting my early social documentary background in creating inspired images of people & places for the editorial, corporate and fine art markets.
My studio is located in the Flatiron District of Manhattan & I live with my wife in Fairfield, CT.
