Hello, my name is Vada Rae Helton, I have been a stylist for over 25 years. I own a semi-private studio located at the front of Linda Heights subdivision, on the corner of Kingston Pike and Chaho Rd. It's call Vada Rae's Salon. I have been there almost 4 years.
I have always chosen to attend additional trainings and Certifications....my highest level is the American Board Certified Colorist. I am also Certified as an Evolve Volumizer expert. A Certified DevaCurl Designer. And I have my Lash and hair Extensions certifications as well. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I begin with a getting to know you and your hair session that I refer to as a Hair and Beauty Audit. We spend 10-20 minutes finding out what you like and don't like....then I discuss the possible solutions and together we decide on the future plan.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I began my training as a teenager in Cosmetology school and I haven't stopped taking classes yet. And I don't plan on it as long as I am behind the chair. There is always scientist creating new technologies that I have to be trained in. So it is off to school I go. It is sad that the state of Tennessee does not require our industry to receive continuous education. However, I require it of myself; for my clients and their future great hair.

I do offer starting prices. Women Cuts...59....mens 41....perms....100....GoldWell foundation color starts at 57 on short hair....However length. density and age do effect all pricing. Complimentary consultations in salon is the only way to get the current pricing for you. These are just a few of the many things I offer. Way to many to list here.
How did you get started in this business?
I have always loved the beauty business. And I got started working on my Great Grandmother's hair, doing pin curls and her toes on the back porch when I was a young girl. Then in Highschool, I took all the hours I needed and graduated with hon6in my program. And have been rocking it out since.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with men, women, and children. I have helped with hair loss, due to alopecia, and cancer and the pesky thyroid hair. I have worked on wigs, and Extensions. I love updos and down do's...weddings and all special occasions. Dancers. I have been back stage for 10 years at the Dancing with the Knoxville Stars Events. Helping everyone look their best. Both the stars and the professionals. I can help everyone who wants to look and feel their best.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Upward Soccer, I have been blessed to have our son in this program for the last two years. Just a great group of people trying to pull our community together to help our children and our adults to see the love of the Lord.
