About

Cinematic. Storytelling. Unique.

I'm a professional photographer and artist in Fort Worth, Texas specializing in inventional portraiture - an edgy brand of cinematic imagery akin to movie posters and book covers. I produce evocative and striking imagery for both commercial and personal clients. At a time when pictures are being produced and displayed daily more than any other time in history, my clients' photos stand out above others.

My inventional portraiture transcends the norm to reveal clients’ stories in distinctive and creative ways. I incorporate elaborate sets and costumes with creative lighting, special effects, and post production artistry to produce a rare brand of visual narratives that are both filmic and powerful. It’s ideal for all forms of evocative and role-play imagery including alter-ego, cosplay, fantasy, and fictional portrayals. My clients enjoy doing them and are consistently as delighted with the experience as they are with their final images.

My pulp photography places clients on their very own vintage pulp and comic book covers. I use period sets, costumes, and props along with inventive photographic and artistic processes to recapture the vibrancy and luridness of those fabulous pulp covers from the 1890s to the 1950s. Other photographers might slap some Photoshop filters onto ordinary pictures and call them “pulps”, but mine take an authentic and detailed approach from planning-to-printing that truly honor and celebrate the medium. Clients impart their own stories onto each ‘cover’ through the various pulp genres such as adventure, detective, hero, horror, sci-fi/weird, spicy, or even western. True to the covers of yesteryear, my pulps are colorful, fanciful, dramatic, and often satirical. The final ‘covers’ (images) consistently amaze and amuse my clients, are worthy of poster-sized prints, and make excellent conversation pieces.

My background as a creative in the film, television, music, and audio industries provides a well-rounded pallet of technical skills, artistic insight, and practical experience from which to draw for my preferred medium, photography. I started in film photography as a child and initially aspired to be a wildlife photographer, but my affinities for movies, storytelling, and dramatic lighting ultimately directed me to cinematic portraiture. My main inspiration was my childhood Kodak Viewmaster and the vibrancy and dimensionality of the Viewmaster slides are apparent in my work today.

For anyone wanting a regular photo staring at the camera in ordinary clothes, then unfortunately, I’m not the right person for the job. That is, as a specialty portraitist, I opt to work with clients whose ambitions are aligned with my brand of services and creations. And as an artist, I'm compelled to craft dynamic photos that are both aesthetically unique and technically exceptional while treating every frame with equally high levels of originality and proficiency. My clients are consistently thrilled with their final images and, as I approach each project with an outgoing Texan charisma, they enjoy the collaboration.

I offer total portability for professional, studio-quality lighting on location. I have extensive travel and location experience. I’m available and documented for both domestic and international assignments. I'm appropriately insured and licensed for business. I'm an active member of both the Professional Photographers of America and Nikon Professional Services.

I welcome the opportunity to connect with new clients, find their stories, and together, create the moment.

I love the creative and technical duality of photography. My images convey a similar dichotomy - capturing the beauty in simplicity and the fascination in the ordinary. Photography lets me see the everyday in a different way, and I aspire to share that vision with others.

    Frequently asked questions

I first meet with clients either personally, virtually, or telephonically to get a feel for the type of imagery they want and visualize. Once it's clear we're a great match, we schedule the shoot and I collect a modest retainer. I then compile a mood board to share ideas and narrow down the scope of the project. R&D mode follows where I pin down locations, sets, props, costuming, hair, and makeup. My clients show up on location and are then transformed into the characters we intend to capture. I'll have up to 3 assistants ensuring my clients are comfortable and that all goes according to plan on set. We all have a great time shooting. Then, in post-production, I edit and process the very best images and post them to a private gallery on kazey.com for client approval and subsequent final payment. I make each image available as a-la-cart prints so clients only pay for the ones they want.

Clients benefit from my background as a creative in the photographic, film, television, music, and audio industries. I bring a well-rounded pallet of technical skills, artistic insight, and practical experience to every project. I started in photography as a child and originally aspired to be a wildlife photographer, but my affinities for movies, storytelling, and dramatic lighting ultimately directed me to cinematic portraiture. I was mentored by celebrity pro photographer Michael Jordon Smith. In other creative arenas, I've produced music demos & EPs for myself & local musicians, as well as composed, performed, recorded & mixed music for short & feature films, documentaries, cable TV, & radio. I'm formally trained and experienced at Dallas Sound Lab, Goodnight Audio, Heads Up Records, Castle Audio, Planet Dallas, and more. I've done location sound, sound effects editing & Foley for short & feature films, and I'm a published solo instrumentalist through BMI.

I've worked with everyone from pet moms to VPs, and cosplayers to musicians. Despite the impression given by my inventional portraiture, my clients are not professional actors or models. Many don't even identify as extroverts or creatives. They're enterprising people that want something different - something artistic, memorable, clever, meaningful, innovative, personal, dynamic, or exceptional. I make it fun and easy for them to fall into character. They all enjoy the experience. And they all love their final images. If you want a run-of-the-mill portrait staring at the camera in everyday wear, I'm probably not the photographer for you. But if you want something that's cinematic, stylish, imaginative, theatrical, dramatic, intimate, distinctive, telling, expressive, representational, or deep, then let's Connect. Create. Capture. My lens is a blank canvas waiting to reveal your story, alter-ego, fantasy, secret identity, or history. Leave the research, shopping, set design, special effects, and other production tasks to me and let's create the moment. Contact me to share your story and exchange ideas.
