Marjorie was very knowledgeable about hair color and cut. I was extremely pleased with the changes she recommended to my color and style, and have received many compliments after going to Garbo's Salon.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I love meeting new clients for the first time. We get to know one another by asking each other questions. I look at the natural texture of the hair, your face shape, your personal style, the amount of time you want to spend styling and maintaining your hair. It is a quick consultation to discover your comfort zone for change. Every client is unique in their own way. You will leave my chair knowing how to sylye your hair and also knowing what products will best support your maintenance and styling needs once you are at home.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a vast amount of experience in my field. I am internationally trained with a heavy focus on beautiul color work. I have studied with Oribe, Yosh, Trever Sorbie,Beth Minardi,Horst Rechelbacher,Christoper and Sonya Dove, John Paul Mitchell,Fredderic Fekkai, Francois and Laurent Guiffant and many more beauty powerhouse people. I bring an energy rich experience to every client on every visit.

I have worked in the finest salons in Fort Worth,Texas including Neiman Marcus and Shelton's. My time spent with Aveda corporation was uplifting in many ways. I taught the hair color classes in the Aveda Lifestyle salon I worked in for several years. The many years spent in the beauty industry bring much perspective and creativity to the table.

How did you get started in this business?

I have always had a passion for all things beauty related. The excitement and joy that I receive from  creating new looks for clients is wonderful.

Several of my friends had enetered the fashion industry and I enjoyed watching them stretch and grow. I graduated from hair school when I was 18 and have never stopped gaining more education and experience along the way. It is a great way to spend my day, connecting with people and making the day a little brighter.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with customers of all ages. From babies first haircut to even assisting beloved clients with taking care of final arrangements for loved ones. I have worked with people of all sizes, shapes and colors. Everyone deserves to feel beautiful.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I just finished an Aura Soma class. It is the science of non invasive color therapy combined with the alchemy of essential oils and precious gemstone crystals. Every bottle has a message. I spent five days leaning about the bottles and all of the benefits they provide us.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?

We love photos for ideas and inspiration. We love photos of you when you loved you hair and even when you hated it. When you disliked a certain style it is good to have that information so we know to steer clear of that particular style.

Know that realistic expectations are key. While we are able to create beautiful sytles for you the maintenance and upkeep is also the responsibility of the client. Color is a cosmetic for the hair and it does fade . Maintaining your services make for an energy rich experience.

Ask about the stylists background and their experience with whatever it is you are seeking, color work, color correction, chemical relaxers and permanent waves.

Look for someone who is honest with you and offers a fair pricing structure. Do you connect with the person standing behind the chair? Keep searching until you find the stylist you feel will best suit your needs.

I have even had clients come in and observe me while I work. Your stylist should be happy to explain the pricing and the process.

What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?

Is this something I can afford?

Am I willing to do the maintenance on the chemical services?

Do I have time to visit the salin and sit for services?

Is this process going to damage my hair?

Is this look appropriate for work?

Does my hair texture  resemble the models hair in the photo I like? Will this work on my hair? Listen to the hairdresser. Get several opinions if you feel you need more clarification.

Do I have realistic expectaions?
