Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I am very detailed oriented and need to take the extra time to sit down and go though all points necesary in order to have a clear vision of what is it that the client needs, consilation is my main focus, it give me certainty and confidence to achieve clients goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Public Relations, which helped me understand almost all aspects of a client as a human being, besides, advanced coloring techniques and cuts from award winning and celebrity hairstylists.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I have a starting point for all my prices and that is because hair can be different from person to person, my pricelist is listed on the Service Menu tab of my website www.yjdominicanbeautysalon.com
How did you get started in this business?
I am specialized on all hair types for a very specific reason, my culture is very mixed, where I am coming from you can find all types of looks and of course, hair types. A hairstylist from my country is trained to work on all hair types.
After I came to USA, I experienced hard time finding a hairdresser that would treat my hair the way I was used to, so I had to style my hair at home, it was my job during my college years so it wasn’t difficult. I discover that there was a need and people really love the way I do their hair, so I decided to open my shol againg here in USA and work as a hairstylist and because it is a passion of mine and its really easy to spend hours at the shop doing hair!
What types of customers have you worked with?
ALL races, some celebrities as well!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Feeding the homeless!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Have a one on one consultation, it isbthe best way to be both, the stylist and the client on the same page, this will avoid mistakes if the stylist is knowledgeable of her career, showing inspirations and understanding that a NO from your atylist sometimes is fornyour bennefit!
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
How many years have you been doing hair?
A great stylist can only be good by mastering what she does and mastering skills comes only with practice, practice happens over time, a safe time to analize a portfolio of a pro and trusting him/her is 3+ years!
