Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Most sessions are scheduled through email or facebook messages from my business page. We discuss times & desired locations and schedule from there. Client may be asked to pay a small deposit to book session.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Art & photography was a long time interest & hobby before launching this business. I also have 10+ years of professional experience working with children, families as well as special needs individuals in the human services field. I find this to be valuable now in giving my clients the best possible experience during their photography sessions.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Prices vary depending on the type of service desired and may also be tailored to fit specific needs or wishes.
How did you get started in this business?
After years of hands-on learning, refinining skills & upgrading equipment while photographing friends, family & acquaintances alongside a full time career, in 2016, I established Lucky Lane and it is now my sole employment.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I regularly photograph families, children & newborns in addition to both small events & weddings. I also provide maternity sessions, birthday, senior portraits & other milestone sessions.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I always look forward to freezing "real" moments- particularly children exploring, running, jumping, enjoying the outdoors during a session. I also love capturing families at home with newborns in a candid, natural, lifestyle approach and look forward to freezing special moments for all of my clients.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Ideally, make sure you have seen a lot of examples of work and that the photographer's style is closely matched to what you are looking for in your final images. Most professional photographers do not want to be asked to replicate someone else's work (i.e. be given a lot of Pinterest photos and asked to re-create this) Think about images you have seen that you love & then look for a photographer that already appears to have a similar style. Also, hire someone you feel you will trust to take the kind of images you are looking for- most photographers are happy to meet and talk or even just email with you prior to your session to be sure you are on the same page for your session.
Newborn photography is typically booked before baby has arrived, be sure to contact photographers in advance for this as once the baby has arrived, many photographers may not be able to get you in in time to capture baby in the newborn phase (this is generally within days of birth and preferably under 10 days).
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
*Questions about the photographers overall style, posed & candid images (particularly if you know your preference is more geared to one or the other)
* Length of session, location, how you will receive your images (do they provide digital images/prints) and if you need your images in a certain time frame, be sure that the photographer has adequate time to deliver your images as needed from the time of booking
* Does the photographer have experience with the type of photography you need
