Q & A

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I will generally meet with them to find out exactly what they need from the photos well before the shoot so as to be fully prepared and give the client time to come up with answers to questions if there are any unanswered.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a Bachelor of Science in Photography and Graphic Arts Technology as well as many additional classes, seminars, workshops and years of on the job experience and learning.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.

I price for based on the details of the shoot and how the photos will be used so it varies a great deal from shoot to shoot.

How did you get started in this business?

I studied photography in college, assisted over 100 different photographers over 6 years as a freelance assistant, became a producers of stock photo shoots for 6 years and then opned my own commercial photography business.

What types of customers have you worked with?

For the majority of my career I have produced stock photography with Getty Images and Corbis. I've also done magazine work, clothing catalog work (both on and off model), architectural, musicians, weddings, portraits, and events. I am still a on call photographer with the Boeing Company.

What advice would you give a customers looking to hire a vendor in your area of expertise?

Talk to them. See if they understand what you want and are easy to communicate with as well as the type of person you want to work with. Photo shoots can be long  :-)

What questions should customers think through before talking to vendors about their needs?

They should know there bottom line needs and have some ideas of how they want to get there. The photographer can most definietly add to that but if you don't know what you want the photographer definitely won't know.
