Heidi Hodges Photography offers affordable vibrant documentary-style wedding and event photography. I bring my unique vision and style to every wedding and every event, and custom fit my approach for every unique couple. With a BA degree in photography I have spent a passionate career pursuing my interest--first as a photojournalist, and for the past 15 years as a wedding and event photographer. In recent years, I've had the tremendous opportunity to work with and learn from some of the best in the wedding industry, including Doug Gordon in New York, Michael Segal from L.A. and Tunwa Yee from Chicago. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I love getting to know and understand my clients. I meet in person or via a phone call, and answer questions and go over the event. I am happy to help with timing planning to help get the most out of any photography package.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in photography and an extensive background in all areas. I stay in touch with the ever-changing field by seeking out mentors in the industry. In past years, I've had opportunity to work and learn with photographers who have photographed presidents, and major stars like Carrie Underwood. In the off season, I enjoy networking with peers, taking technical seminars and studying professional periodicals. I also keep up with trends in wedding photography and look for ways to incorporate the best with my unique style.
What advice would you give a customers looking to hire a vendor in your area of expertise?
There are plenty of photographers out there advertising services. If photography is an important part of your wedding, make sure the photographer you choose is truly professional--with education and strong background. Ask for client referrals and entire sample weddings. And look at the details of the images. And then seek out the style and budget that best suits you.
