About
Hi there! I'm Deaune Boyd, Portrait Photographer and founder of Elysian Visions. I am a self-taught Portrait Photographer who started as a hobbyist in 2014 but soon after discovered that photography was my true passion. I have since gone on to perfect my craft, studying Photojournalism, Digital Media Arts, Adobe Photoshop, and many more areas of photography.
I've had the incredible opportunity to work with some amazing brands and people - The Beard Boss Company, Ri.Esstential Cosmetics, Sunflowers and Selenite LLC, Delta Epsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Eta Delta Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Papillon Effect Apparel, and many more. I was even lucky enough to be invited to photograph the screening for Netflix's series Colin In Black & White! On top of this, I have also been able to capture some beautiful moments like Engagement Proposals with The SD Picnic Co., Portraits with Mayah Hatcher, and Podcaster/Digital Creator Louise Rumball.
I understand how it feels to be unsure about yourself; that's why I want to use my gift as a photographer to remind my clients that their imperfections make them perfect in their ways. My end goal is to show my clients just how beautiful they already are by capturing moments of real emotion in breathtaking photos that celebrate all aspects of them as individuals.
In my leisure time, when I'm not working with my camera, I love cooking up delicious meals and exploring thrilling conspiracy theories - much to the delight (and sometimes chagrin) of my friends! When I'm not behind the camera or in the kitchen, you can usually find me at concerts (especially when Jazz or Reggae is playing!) or binge-watching true crime stories. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My typical process for working with a new customer usually starts with a one-on-one meeting via cell phone with me and my clients.
I enjoy doing this because it allows both the client and I, a sense of comfort and understanding of the initial project's vision/direction.
Talking to customers via text/email can be confusing at times due to the lack of details and timing.
I have had numerous of misunderstandings with clients via text and email. I learned that it makes the entire process a lot smoother for both parties.

Some advice I would give to a customer looking to hire a pro in my particular area of expertise would be to have a clear and precise idea visions you would like to go for, that way us the photographer can plan your photoshoot according to your ideal visions.
