About this pro

Chris is the lead photographer at Photography Stiles. He started out shooting landscapes, storm clouds, and cat faces, but found that portraits and capturing emotion in weddings was where his true artistry thrived.

Throughout his pre-photography career, he worked with his degree in weather traversing the country training on-air meteorologists. He would teach them how to utilize the tools necessary to help tell a complete weather story. He quickly realized story telling is something he is truly passionate about. (Seriously, ask him how he almost drowned in a flash flood!)

Being able to tell your love story as a couple is a unique and valuable skill Chris has been unknowingly perfecting for years. Every shoot is an honor to be creating timeless memories for couples and families to cherish forever.

Hired Chris to take photos of my family on two occasions, one for family photos and the other for my daughters baptism. Fantastic photographer! Very professional and timely. Knew how to “pose” our family for the best quality of pictures. Very responsive to my emails and communication never lacked. Highly recommend and will use again!

We started with a secret photo shoot while I proposed and we absolutely love how they came out capturing the moment so perfectly. Then for our engagement photo shoot, literally the very first photo taken was used for our save the dates. The rest of the photo shoot was great as well - Chris had a great plan for types of shots since we weren’t all that sure of what we wanted. It was cold and windy out that day and he got so many different shots and it didn’t take too long but we weren’t rushed at all either. Great experience with Photography Stiles! They also did our wedding and it was incredible. They got all the shots we wanted and also were keeping an eye on the weather to make sure we didn't get rained on. We were finishing up a few shots outside and Chris told us we had 1 minute before it rains... got our last group shots in and it started raining just as we were walking through the door.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.

We have prices that can fit anyones budget for who wants to work with us, but our starting price is $2,800 for six hours of wedding coverage. Elopement packages inquire within.

How did you get started in this business?

In 2012 I met a photography loving co-worker who I traveled with and continued to inspire me. After picking up my first pro grade camera I photographed everything that was around me from familes to landscapes. It wasn't until 2015-2016 that I photographed a close family friend and enjoyed the entire experience so much, that I knew I wanted to shift my life around to incorporate wedding and portrait photography as my new career.

What types of customers have you worked with?

We have photographed multiple weddings from Rhode Island to Texas, over 100 families, as well as business website shoots. We have done a few headshots for local small businesses as well.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

One of our last summer weddings in Mystic, CT at the Inn at Mystic was a day to remember. The sun was out, the temperature was aroud 75 degrees and the couple was clearly having the best day of their lives. Our photos captured their genuine happiness and it makes us smile endlessly.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?

Make sure to get a photograper who jives with what you envision, and do not be afraid to ask the important questions like do you have small business insurance? This is extremely important and you're going to want a wedding photographer who has invested and dedictated themselves to the business.

What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?

I would ask questions like do you offer prints and albums? This is something that's overlooked today, but I can promise you in the day of digital wedding photos are not the same as your cell phone photos. Wedding photos printed in an album is something you'll want to get close with your partner on a chilly winter day when there's nothing to do, grab a cup of cocoa and re-live the memories together. Fumbling around your computer or phone for over hundreds to near over a thousand photos just isnt the same on a screen.
