Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Normally I would like to meet with my clients over coffee and we go over a game plan for their wedding day.
we will normally talk about your wants and needs when it comes to your wedding photo's!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
each year for the past 5 years, i have participated in wedding seminars so that i can increase my craft. by learning and helping to hone in on lighting, posing and shooting technique so that the client gets the best that i can offer...
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Normally each client is different with different needs.
so therefore because of that, I start with a base pay of $800. and go from there... sometimes i have been known to go less than that because I love to be able to help people....
How did you get started in this business?
i started out by second shooting with other great photographers such as Joe De'fabis and other great photographers in the indianapolis area..
i did this for 2 years before i started shooting weddings by myself. I have been shooting weddings full time since 2010
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with many different types of clients.
by me working with 3 other wedding companies in the indy and fort Wayne area, I have had to deal with a lot of people with mom issues, husband issues, bride issues, meaning mostly bridezilla's or the Mom who wants to run the show and the heck with everyone else. the husband who doesn't want to smile but i have been able to get a grin out of them and occasionally a smile. or the bride who drinks way too much before the wedding and cries and we do what we can to help her get through the day.. Yes, we have dealt with all types of people in our journey of wedding photography.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
this was the weirdest wedding ever and it has become my most memorable and favorite.
I had been working with one of the local wedding companies and i was in Lafayette. when i spoke with the bride to introduce myself, she asked me - are you Black. I said "why yes, I am "
She hurriedly off the phone by saying that she has to go..
but before she got off the phone - I could hear her say that this was not going work.
So i called the company that i am working for and told them that the bride is looking for a White Photographer and she is not interested in having a black wedding photographer shoot her wedding... The company called back and told me that they couldn't get anyone else and that i would need to take on the task that was set before me...
i said to myself, "okay, lets go in with the best attitude. take control of the situation and direct the bride and groom so that we can get some great looking photos.. Well, Non the less,
by the end of the night - The bride Loved me!!!!
she spoke highly of me and gave me a $200.00 Tip....
Unfortunately, the DJ was a black gentleman and he Caught Hell. I guess he got what i was supposed to get... I love her and she was definitely a Bridezilla with a Capitol B, but i was able to go in with a great attitude and mindset that I was going to give her my Best!!!! and that is what i will do for you.. I am going to come in and give you my Best so that you will Remember your day with a smile on your face.......
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
in my humble opinion, Look at the photographers pictures on his website and or facebook page.
Look for images outside - are they dark, are they clear and sharp. and my pet peave, can you see the eye sockets clearly or are they dark and sunken in....
then look for images on the inside. are they again Dark, are they clear - also if you see a lot of Redness in the images, then they are more than likely not color corrected and sometimes you have to be able to fix that in your camera before going to the computer...
