My professional career began as a graphic designer and art director. Photography was a hobby throughout my life until I began getting more involved and wanting to learn and know more. I eventuallly added photography services to my design business and it took off! Having a strong design background has been so instrumental in my photography as I am very aware of focal points, light, balance and "the story" telling aspects. I have a very artistic and unique approach with my camera. I use shadow and light to my advantage by creating a scene within a scene. I like to capture a moment from an unexpected angle while still incorporating straight forward, clean compositions. I am also a lot of fun and super easy to get along with! I'm an extroverted people person and not afraid to do what it takes to get the shot. My favorite place to be is behind my camera and in front of beauty. I've been fortunate enough to photograph a space capsule coming out of the sky and a heart coming out of a guy (on purpose). I love that my work takes me into people's worlds, capturing their workplace or happy space. In pursuit of imagery I've partnered with clients such as Essentia Water, BNSF Railway, SpaceX and Canon, earning recognition from Communication Arts, APA & ASMP nationally along the way. I also work in motion, creating complete stories for an array of clients. Barbara Gracner is a documentary and portrait photographer from Slovenia. She attended a documentary and photojournalism photography program at the International Center of Photography in New York, where she received the George and Joyce Moss Scholarship. Barbara's work has been exhibited in several collective showings in Slovenia, including the Floating Exhibition RIVER in Ljubljana; International Center of Photography, New York; Fifth Annual Exposure Award at the Louvre, France, Pingyao, China, Paraty em Foco, Brasil, Shangrao, China and Auckland Festival of Photography, New Zealand.
